I added some links down in the art section and one in the online comics section.
I added them for good reason and advise everyone to visit them. One is
'Day Dreamer', the site of the 'net famous Julie Dillon. Excellent art. Here's a link to her amazing tutorial on
How to Draw Manga. It's very useful with excellent explanations. I also added the site of
'Nivbed' by Justin Cherry. It's infused with mystery and intrigue. If you are curious person and love a bit of mystery and a hint of mysticism, I suggest this as your art site. It's really not the place for you if you hate searching for links, though, because he incorporates his links into his art. It gives the page fluidity, but makes it difficult at times to navigate. He really does have a beautiful site though, and everyone should check it out just to educate themselves. His artwork itself is haunting.
As for the online comic, I posted a link to 'Fallen', created by Aido. Fallen is by far one of my all-time favorite webmangas. One of the reason I adore it so much is that the characters'
facial expressions are excellent. Faustus, my favorite character in the story, has myriad of facial expressions that all tug at the heart and make me think of a puppy. A kicked puppy that was once a
murdering rabid dog, but still a
kicked puppy. The colors are more muted than other webmangas, but it still boasts color for every page, placing it a cut above. The
background isn't spectacular, but takes a backseat (as it should) to the story and characters. I think it has just the right amount of detail, though.
There are very few flaws with this manga, but they still exist. The site is rather bland and amateurish, very different from Nivbed's amazing layout. In the storyline, Aido tends to get distracted by side-stories involving a pantheon of gods. Indeed, 'Fallen' was created as a place to put all these gods and fables, much as Tolkien created
Lord of the Rings to hold all of his made up languages. Even though the fables may distract, pay attention to them. So far every side-story she has entered has tied directly into the plot. If you do lose track, don't fret, she also provides re-caps. Another turn-off for me was that she has furries in some parts of her story. Their presence is explained (something to do with the gods), but all the same, I hate furries. Sorry, but I'm horribly bigoted against furries. I thougt Aido included them rather well, though. In fact, Aido is the
only artist whose furry art I will view. Nothing obscene, you perverts! But more about Aido's art another time.
All in all, read
FALLEN.
